The story
The divine design of God, combined with the obedience of his sons and daughters, is marvelous. In 1995, in Migowi, Malawi, a man named Rudy Louw gave McMore Salima his Bible. On the inside of the Bible happened to be the address where Rudy was staying at the time, in the US.
The address was Apostle Chris Scarinzi’s address. After some time, McMore wrote to that address, looking for help, for support, for kingdom connection. And on Feb 5th, 1997, McMore and Chris met for the first time in Malawi.
At that time, McMore was living with his family in a hut with dirt floors, as most of the families in Migowi were. He and his wife, Promise, were also providing a home for 3 orphans.
Chris saw the passion in McMore to share the gospel and grow the kingdom, and he was burning with a desire to help in any way that he could. As soon as he went home, he began sending whatever monthly support that he could to McMore. He bought him 6 bicycles, which were miraculous provision in Migowi. McMore had already begun planting churches, and the bikes were able to provide the pastors with transportation so they could share the word and minister more effectively. Promise was also given a bike so that she could get groceries and run other errands to take care of their home and the children.

the vision
With consistent support, McMore’s ministry began to grow and grow. There was a desperate need for a home for orphaned children, and McMore took on the challenge. Chris and United With Christ continued to send resources and teams as much as they could, and the children’s home was built.
McMore’s vision was never to have just another orphanage. He wanted a facility where children could truly find a home and kingdom family. He is passionate about every child that comes to City Of Mercy knowing and understanding that they are no longer orphans, they are sons and daughters of the most high God, a loving Father.
The other specific focuses of City Of Mercy that set it apart in focus and vision are:
Dedication to not just an academic education, but the building of a deep spiritual foundation
An environment of complete safety and protection, with consistent nourishing meals
Training in sports and recreational activities
Each child is taught a trade that will give them an advantage when they go into the marketplace
There have now been many children who have grown up at the children’s home and went on to get a higher education, usually in either business or architecture.
The misson
So much has been accomplished, but there is so much further to go. McMore has a dream and an assignment from God to create a state-of-the-art facility for children that will jumpstart their futures like never before. There are dangerous situations and risks at every turn, and time is of the essence. Our prayers, our support and our dollars can go so far in Malawi.
